The objectives of Standards & Labeling Program of BEE is to provide the consumer an informed choice about the energy saving and the cost saving potential of the marketed household and other equipment. This scheme comes into force from May, 2006 for the following mandatory products:

2) Tubular Fluorescent Lamps
3) Room Air Conditioners
4) Distribution Transformers
5) RAC (Cassette, Floor Standing Tower, Ceiling, Corner AC)
6) Direct Cool Refrigerator
7) Electric Geysers
8) Color TV
9) LED Lamps
10) Variable Capacity Air Conditioners

This rule is also called the E-Waste (Management) Rule. It comes into force from the 1st October, 2016. These rules are mandatory for all manufacturers, producer, dealers, e-retailers, bulk consumers which are involved in manufacture, sale, transfer, purchase, and collection storage of electrical and electronic component.

Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY) has notified "Electronics and Information Technology Goods (Requirement for Compulsory Registration) Order, 2012" on 3rd October, 2012. As per the Order, no person shall manufacture or store for sale, import, sell or distribute goods which do not conform to the Indian standard specified in the order. Manufacturers of these products are required to apply for registration from Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) after getting their product tested from BIS recognized labs.

The Trade Marks Registry was established in India in 1940 and presently it administers the Trade Marks Act, 1999 and the rules there under. It acts as a resource and information centre relating to trademarks in the country. The objective of the Trade Marks Act, 1999 is to register trademarks applied for in the country and to provide for better protection of trademark for goods and services and also to prevent fraudulent use of the trademark. The main function of the Registry is to register trademarks which qualify for registration under the Act and Rules.

From 1st September, 2017, import of toys shall be permitted freely when it has certain certificates such as a certificate that the items being imported conform to the standards prescribed by Bureau of Indian Standards.
In addition, a certificate of conformance from the manufacturer that a representative sample of the toys being imported has been tested by an independent laboratory which is accredited by National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL).

Drug license is a permission granted by the competent authority under drugs and cosmetic act to carry out a business concerning drugs/medicines or cosmetics. In other words, no person can start or continue a business dealing with drugs or cosmetics in India, unless an appropriate license is obtained for the conduct of such activity. Under the purview of Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 all types of drugs or cosmetics business is covered including allopathic, homoeopathic, ayurvedic or unani drugs. The quality of drugs and cosmetics is the responsibility of all persons dealing with it. If any person consuming or using a drug or cosmetic suffers any harm from the negligence on the part of the manufacturer or seller the same is an offence, which is triable as an offence of grievous hurt under IPC. Hence all the concerned must be alert and vigilant while dealing with drugs and cosmetics in India and must comply with the conditions of license and provisions of the Act or rules.
